Celebrating The Strength Of Every Woman | IWD 2019

With limited understanding from the public, the transgender community often has no support system. This has resulted in many trans individuals falling through the cracks of social service, whether they suffer from abuse, health needs, or unemployment. This phenomenon is prevalent in the community regardless of gender.

Observing these gaps, the T Project aims to work with partner organisations and individuals to create more inclusive systems to support the community. This International Women’s Day, we work in support of AWARE’s Aim For Zero campaign to end sexual violence in Singapore, forge a more gender-balanced world, and raise awareness against gender bias.

We start with sharing the story of an incredible woman who has survived sexual assault and an abusive marriage. Her story sheds light on the insecurities and discrimination that abusers perpetuate and social support fails to address. Andrea’s story also highlights the strength and resilience of the transgender community.
